My Intro to Fort Collins

During my last year of high school, my mom took me to visit her alma mater, Colorado State University. Along with our campus tour, we also hiked around in the Rocky Mountains, and we even paid a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park. Just outside of Fort Collins, we did our first hike to Horsetooth Falls, only to find that it was already dry. Nonetheless, we still found some great views of the front range and some big rocks to climb on.

After this hike, we drove up to Estes Park, and we stayed there for two nights. During our stay there, we visited Rocky Mountain National Park, where we hiked up to another waterfall, which luckily still had a decent flow. I thought it would be cool to walk across this waterfall, but I didn't think about how slippery the rocks might be. So, during my first step across the waterfall, I slipped and fell about 10 feet down the cascade, and I luckily caught myself before falling off the last 25 foot drop. The good news was that my mom was walking away from where I was the whole time, so she hadn't seen a thing that happened (which was a good thing because I did not want to get yelled at).

Overall, it was a great trip to Colorado; little did I know that it would soon be my new home! I'm glad to have hiked around with my mom for that long weekend.
